He's got your back

Every day we wake up,roll out of bed, check our phones to stay connected to the social world. We shower, grab a bite and run off to our jobs. We come back from our jobs, shower, grab a bite, catch a show or two on TV while staying connected to the social world, then we go to sleep. This becomes a cycle everyday. We become robots following a routine, while our relationship with God suffers. We forget God, well maybe its a stretch to say we forget Him but we keep God in storage. We keep Him in our metaphorical boxes for later use. We push Him to the sidelines till we run out of options or when we are greeted with problems, and solutions become a stranger to us. We become lost in the fast paced life that we are now enslaved to, which debars us from appreciating God's presence and blessings. Giving thanks to God for giving us the breath of life, good health, and ability to make wealth becomes a foreign language our minds and mouths find difficult to comprehend. Thus, forgetting that we are only able to do these things as a result of His grace and love. We become oblivious of  His provisions, goodness and mercies. We fail to realize that we are something because He is everything and that we exist because He is existence. The most important relationship we must form is with God, for He is our foundation and core of our being. A car cannot run with no engine nor can a house not stand on solid ground. God is our engine. He is our solid ground. We cannot run or move without Him. We can only stand on Him in this world that is polluted with sad and violent news, mistreatment, segregation, hate and greed. God is the one we can run to find solace, courage and boldness to face the world. As much as the relationships we form between ourselves is important, our relationship with God is the most essential. A relationship with God keeps you sane amidst the craziness in the world. It keeps you sailing when others around you seem to drown in seas of life struggles. So, run to God and not from Him for He loves you more than you could ever fathom. But who is God? Here's the best explanation of who God is to us according to comedian Micheal Jr: God is like a navigation device in your car. It tells you how to get to an address or location you enter. Let's say the direction says go four kilometres and make a right but then you go four kilometres and make a left. God does not abandon you to get lost but He re-calculates and sets you on the right path and even if you make more mistakes along the way while wasting time, He remains patient and still re-calculates till you get to your right destination. All because He's got your back. You can count on Him when all hope is lost. Yes, you sure can count on Him, when all friends and your family gives up on you. He could never give up on you because He's got your back.

Side note (Story behind this month's blog):
The month of November has been an emotional one for me because 9 years ago in November was when my relationship with my older sister became stronger and also was the same month, she became very ill. In this same month, she instilled in me words of advice and made me promise to always stay focused and make a difference in life. She made me appreciate God more and understand that He's always got my back. Although, my sister passed away in December of that same year, I still hold on to those words  of wisdom she instilled in me and I cherish those talks we had. I will forever miss you my beloved sister. Adieu Irene. Rest in peace, sister.

Donald Trump is just what America needs

Donald Trump, a known business man and TV personality is the 45th president of the United States of America. I remember being in a state of shock when he won the election last year and was inaugurated into office earlier this year.  Since the inception of his government, he has been controversial in his comments, actions and leadership style. This has caused a lot of hateful comments and criticism from celebrities.  Recent controversial comments from Trump include the racist comments regarding NFL players, belittling and preachy comments on Puerto Rico, Harvey Weinstein and Bob Corker. Trump's administration has brought about feelings of hate and disgust in people to the point that people have marched out in streets in protests as a means to voice their feelings. Although Donald Trump is a little child in an adult body because of his leadership judgment, mannerisms, choice of words and actions, he is just what America needs. This is because he is the most successful American p...

Find YOU

If you have read any of my blogs, you would know how I always emphasize the importance of relationships in our existence. Relationships not only gives meaning to our existence, but it also drives our daily routine and life. Our survival, adaptation and ability to exercise our emotions all stem from our engagements in different relationships. Therefore, it is safe to say that relationships play a key role in our lives. Every relationship we form with people is imperative to our growth as an individual, because those relationships in my many ways depicts who we are as a person. Our relationships with others may be important but the most important relationship we could ever form is the one we have with ourselves. Although, this is the most important relationship and the one that requires most of our energy and intentions towards building, it is the one we shy away from the most. We go into relationships with many people without actually having a proper understanding of who we are as a p...

She won't call him handsome

Women in general are created to perfection. Their well-proportioned facial features, bodacious curves and innate cat-like walks are some of many things women possess that drive men insane. Traditionally, it has been the duty of the man to acknowledge a woman’s appearance or beauty. Most people would agree that it is the gentleman’s thing to do. A man who takes a woman out on a date is expected to compliment her appearance or beauty if he wants to score a second date with her. Admiration comments are also expected from husbands and boyfriends. Many couples have had fights that stemmed from the husband not complimenting their wives’ appearance. This stresses the importance of verbally acknowledging a woman’s appearance. However, it is also important for the woman to acknowledge the men on their appearance because men do appreciate those words and compliments. Words like “You are so handsome”, “I love that color on you. It makes you look more attractive” makes a man feel like a million ...
